You’re messing up my plan not to fall for the ErgoDox, Tom-Eric. 😉
Haven’t really thought about other switches, but that’s a thing to consider too, of course. The NovaTouch TKL looks good, but a little too big for my liking, I think.

Also; yes, an ErgoDox-style keyboard sounds like something crazy enough for me to like, with its layers and configuration. Switching to one just seems daunting.
Mechanical keyboard users: which keyboard would you recommend, and why?
I’ve been using a KBT Pure 60% for the last couple of years and I love the layout. Should I just get another one to replace the Apple keyboard at the other office, or do you have better suggestion?
Vim quicktip #4: Vim detects a file’s type by its filename, but you can set the type yourself using the filetype
(or ft
) option. :set ft=elixir
enables syntax highlighting and automatic indentation for Elixir in the current buffer, without having to save the file to disk.
Huh, what? I can’t think of any movie from 1995 or 1993, except for the Lion King, probably.
That’s a great list! But this year is the 25ᵗʰ anniversary of 1994, which produced some amazing movies like Jurassic Park, Hackers and Toy Story.
Well, that escalated.
You mean regular expressions in general (in which case; definitely), or this one in particular? Be sure to let me know if you spot any flaws. :)
That’s it, indeed! I specifically posted this because of the craziness of that negative lookbehind. I can never remember how to write them, and I always confuse them with lookaheads.
Exactly! 🎉 It’s used to help convert markdown files to Mastodon updates. :)
You’re very close, but that’s explicitly not it. :)
String.replace(text, ~r/(?<!\!)\[([^\]]+)\]\(([^\)]+)\)/, "\\1 (\\2)")

For extra Regex credit: what does this replacement do?
I’ll add https://refind.com. It doesn’t send notifications, but it’s where I’ve put links I planned to read, to then forget about.
Still something I’d like a good solution for, so please mention it if you find anything you like. :)
That’s mostly what I did. My regimen was simply skipping breakfast, and never having anything after dinner. Kept me around a 7–8 hour window, aside from the coffee, which I’d have immediately after waking up.
I was proficient in this for about half a year until I let it slip, now back to eating whenever. Thanks for the reminder! Didn’t know about the coffee thing either. Do you skip coffee in the mornings?
iCloud Keychain doesn’t automatically add basic authentication credentials. The trick to add them anyway is both a beautiful hack and some horrible user experience. Thanks for figuring this out, @dschneller! 🎩👌

Hey Jason! 👋
I love deconstructing software to learn how it works under the hood. I’ve written about programming Ruby for years, but picked up writing about Elixir in the last half year as well. At AppSignal, I split my time between working on their integration libraries and writing for their Elixir and Ruby newsletters.
Most of what I’ve written is published or linked to on https://jeffkreeftmeijer.com.
What are you up to? :)
When submitting a pull request to an open source project, please split up your work. Did a dependency update and added a feature? Great! Open two pull requests. That makes it easier to accept part of your work.
Don’t “Update $dependency. Also; accept new options in $function”.
Finally caved into peer pressure to watch Black Mirror. Needless to say, it’s very good.
It’s an anthology series, so I’d recommend just watching one (try S01E02, the actual pilot) even if you’re not a TV series kind of person.
Rack has a lobster, Plug has an octopus! 🐙 #myelixirstatus
Oh no.
Please, don’t auto link everything ending with a dot and a TLD. If you need to auto link text, require users to use a protocol prefix (https://), so you don’t create links when your users mention Terminal.app or somescript.sh.
Gift cards you can exclusively use to buy other gift cards with are another thing I’m afraid I don’t understand.
